Inspiration from the Naptime Trenches: Five Blankets in the Bed

20160130_165719

Every morning starts with a prayer asking for “grace, energy, and patience” while parenting two little girls. At the very least I ask, “get me to nap time.” There is no new year’s resolution for parenting. It is an every-day resolution. Sometimes the resolution goes well. Sometimes it does not go well. Sometimes, ever so often, it is redeemed by providing a little ditty or creative insight for a writing project.

And behold, inspired by naptime drama: “Five Blankets in the Bed” to the tune of “Five Bears in the Bed”

Five blankets in the bed
And the little child said:
I’m sweaty, roll over.

So they all rolled over
And one fell out
Four blankets in the bed
And the little child said:
I’m sweaty, roll over.

So they all rolled over
And one fell out
Three blankets in the bed
And the little child said:
I’m sweaty, roll over.

So they all rolled over
And one fell out
Two blankets in the bed
And the little child said:
I’m sweaty, roll over.

So they all rolled over
And one fell out
One blanket in the bed
And the little child said:
I’m sweaty, roll over.

So they all rolled over
And one fell out
No blankets in the bed
And the little child said:

I’m freezing!
Where are my blankets?
